The CAS activities that i've chosen to be involved with so far are chamber orchestra, tutoring and the drama production (Cinderella). My roles in the activities are as follows (accordingly):
-Current president of the chamber orchestra, Cellist-Math tutoring for IGCSE level.
-Instrumentalist (Piano/keyboard)
Chamber Orchestra activities began on the 2nd of September with an introductory meeting held in the music room, whereby Ms. Leong explained that our first performance is scheduled for December at Carols by Candlelight. She has arranged several gospel pieces for us to play from the Sister's Act (Oh Maria and I Will Follow You) as well as Bach's Air on G String. We mainly listened to the pieces and i was in charge of filing the scores for each section. On the 9th of September we had our second meeting and i conducted an icebreaker game for us to get to know each other called 'Blow Wind Blow'. In my opinion, being president is a position that requires a lot of leadership skills that i hope i can acquire over time.
Christine (the student I'm tutoring) and I had our first session on the 18th of September. There was no adult supervision as this was again, an introductory meeting. She informed me that her class is currently working on Sets and Vectors before they move on to revision, so i plan to devise a revision schedule as well as use my previous notes to help her with her math. Also as adult supervision is required, I've decided to approach the librarian for help in this matter and hopefully everything will go according to plan.
As for the drama production, there hasn't been an official meeting yet, but i've learnt from Ms. Leong that there are over 30 pieces in the production and many instrumentalists. Rehearsals are scheduled for lunch times.
My other CAS activities that i hope to be able to join would be netball as well as a running team for charity that's currently being organised, in order to balance the areas of CAS.
